CATHOLIC WEDDINGS

CATHOLIC WEDDING CEREMONIES are performed in churches or in consecrated chapels usually belonging to castles or ancient villas. Churches can be as important as St. Peters in Rome or St. Marks in Venice or as intimate as a small chapel in the Italian countryside. A Catholic wedding carries legal validity in Italy.

CATHOLIC WEDDINGS IN ITALY In Italy it is possible to plan either a Catholic wedding with civil validity or a Catholic blessing ceremony. Although the ceremony itself will be exactly the same, couples wanting to have both a civil and catholic marriage rite simultaneously can do so. This option is available in many but not all Catholic churches in Italy so ask your wedding coordinator for her suggestions.
  • Catholic weddings require specific religious paperwork to be completed several months prior to the event. The final approval depends on the local Diocese, not Vera Weddings.
  • It is possible to celebrate a catholic marriage even if only one of the wedding party is Catholic.
  • If you have previously been married in the Catholic church and have not received a formal annulment, only a civil ceremony will be possible.
